Scholarship and Fellowship Comparison Worksheet
Compare up to three awards on eligibility, what they pay for, obligations, length and how they combine with other aid.

Who it helps
Students and researchers comparing scholarships, fellowships or funding offers who want to see eligibility, what each award pays for and what it asks in return, side by side.
How to use it
- Name each award in the column headings.
- Fill in each row from the official terms, starting with eligibility. If you’re not eligible, you can stop there.
- Compare what each award pays for, not just the headline amount. Tuition, fees, living costs and research costs are often covered differently.
- Note obligations and conditions, such as work, service, reports or minimum grades, and whether the award can be combined with others.
- Download the spreadsheet if you want to add your own calculations.
For the differences between award types, see scholarship vs fellowship vs assistantship, our pillar on scholarships and fellowships and teaching vs research assistantships.

Compare awards
Use the official terms of each award. If a term is not published, write "not stated" rather than guessing.

Limitations
- Labels like scholarship and fellowship are used differently by different funders. Compare the actual terms, not the names.
- Write amounts and conditions only from official terms. If a detail isn't published, write "not stated" rather than guessing.
- Tax treatment depends on your circumstances. Use the tax row to note questions for a qualified professional; this worksheet doesn't give tax advice.
- Entries are saved only in this browser on this device.
